William Curtis Inman

January 24, 1930 — August 28, 2017

William Curtis Inman, 87, passed away with his family by his side on August 28, 2017 at the Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem, NC. Curtis was born on a farm in the shadow of Pilot Mountain, in the Shoals community to Samuel Roosevelt Inman and Bessie Mae Stevens Inman.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Mae Miller Inman; his sister, Pauline Elizabeth Inman Matthews, of Shelby; and his brothers Billy Ray Inman, of Murrell’s Inlet, South Carolina  and Richard Lee Inman, of Pilot Mountain.  He is survived by his daughters, Bunny Inman Bobbitt of Pilot Mountain and Lena Gayle (Mike) Williams of Yadkinville;  five grandchildren: John Travis (Beverly) Shelton, Kane (Charity) Shelton, Jenille Shelton (Tony) Hess, Melissa Williams (Brian) Combs, and Michael “Mike” (Sarah) Williams, eight great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Shelton, Lena Rose Shelton, Jonathan Shelton, Kathryn Shelton, Carson Hess, Dylan Hess, Cameron Combs, and Reece Williams; three special sisters-in-law: Shirley Inman of Pilot Mountain, Janie McHone of Level Cross and Eva Gough of Boonville, a special nephew, Aaron Inman of Pilot Mountain, and many nieces and nephews.  Curtis was of the Primitive Baptist Faith and has a large extended family at the churches he loved to frequent: Volunteer, Tom’s Creek, Stoney Creek, Rock House, Cedar Hill, Pinnacle View Baptist Church and Level Cross United Methodist Church.  Most people who knew Curtis will remember his love of following the stock markets from the time he was 30 years old.  He retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company with 31 years of service.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Wake Forest Baptist Health Reynolds Tower 4th floor ICU and North Tower 5th floor ICU, and the Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home.  Funeral services will be held at Level Cross Methodist Church at 4:00PM, on Thursday, August 31, 2017 with Rev. Wesley Hall, Elder Jimmy Joyce, and Elder Rodney Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church from 3:00 to 4:00PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, Curtis requested memorials be made to Hands of Hope Medical Clinic PO Box 62 Yadkinville, NC 27055 or The Foundation Fighting Blindness PO Box 17279 Baltimore, MD 21298.
