William "John" Wingate Gentry

Boonville Mr. William “John” Wingate Gentry, 87, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Yadkin Nursing Center. Mr. Gentry was born November 20, 1929 in Yadkin County to Bernice Gentry Stevenson. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Gentry retired from RJR and enjoyed farming and spending time with special friends over the years. In addition to his mother, Mr. Gentry was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Shore Gentry; and a son, Tim Gentry. He is survived by a daughter, Johnnie Gentry; a daughter-in-law, Ginny Gentry; grandchildren, Ben (Alicia) Gentry, Molly (Patrick) Fitzsimons, Nick Gentry, Jennifer (Ryan) Lemons, Jessica (JJay) Burchette, and Allie Booker; great grandchildren, Matthew Gentry, Eli Fitzsimons, Emmalynn & Katelynn Lemons, and Jackson & Jace Burchette; and a cousin, Lynn Haynes. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Stewart and Rev. Kenny Pardue officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00PM prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shady Grove Baptist Church, 3808 Center Rd Boonville, NC 27011.
