William ("Nip") Henry Slater, Sr.

William Henry Slater, Sr. (“Nip”), 87, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 28, 1937 to Adelbert Oather Slater and Pearl Fizy Taylor Slater. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, and sisters. William was a member of Enon Baptist Church. He retired from Norfolk and Southern Railroad with 32 years of service. William is survived by his best friend and wife of 70 years, Jamie Plowman Slater; his four children William, Jr. (“Nippy”) and wife Sandra, Amelia Slater, Christopher and wife Robin, Stacy McGee; grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Thursday October 17, 2024 at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Ben Webb. If you would like, you can come by and pay your respects to Mr. Slater from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM Thursday October 17, 2024 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in East Bend. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Enon Baptist Church 6321 Old Hwy 421, East Bend, NC 27018 or Trellis Hospice, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103. Gentry Family Funeral Service in East Bend is serving the Slater family.
