Zola Mae Brown Woodruff, 95, passed away Sunday, June 04, 2017, at Yadkin Nursing Care Center. She was born on October 18, 1921, to Luther Montgomery “Mann” and Zetta Hobson Brown. She was married to Richard G. Woodruff for 71 years. They were blessed with 3 children; Phyllis (Eugene) McCollum, Elizabeth (Rick) Foster and Richard George “Dickie” Woodruff, Jr; five grandchildren, Scott (Shannon) McCollum, Melanie (Michael) Southard, Louis Steven McCollum, Corey (Amy) Foster and Josh (Christina) Foster; seven great grandchildren; Logan McCollum, Sinjun and Skylar Southard, Spencer, Cooper, Katie Mack, Eva and Baby “Boy” Foster. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; son, “Dickie”; son-in-law, Eugene; grandson, Louis Steven; sister, Cinda Pendry and brothers, Everette, Luther, Zeno and Joshua Brown. Zola was very active at Boonville Baptist Church as long as her health permitted doing the things she loved the most, cooking for 22 years for her church family and also volunteering in many ways. She joined Extension Homemakers in 1955, earning numerous awards from local to state level, including “Woman of the Year” and “Leader of the Year”. She was most proud of 30 years of perfect attendance and the many cookbooks that the clubs put together and sold. Her funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Boonville Baptist Church by Rev. John Brown and Rev. Larry Thompson. Burial will follow in the Boonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11: 00 a.m. prior to the service at Boonville Baptist Church. Zola loved gardening and her flowers, therefore flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Boonville Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 429, Boonville, NC 27011.
